The newly appointed Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, Thursday, assumed office, assuring that he would refocus the Service and ensure improved performance.
According to a statement issued by the DSS Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Abuja, Dr Peter Afunanya, the DG also pledged to tackle Nigeria’s economic, political and security issues.
Ajayi enjoined the Service staff to remain disciplined and professional in the discharge of their duties.
He assured that he would work with relevant agencies to overcome security challenges confronting the country.
According to the statement, Ajayi was received by his predecessor, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who urged the entire staff to cooperate with his successor to enable him to succeed in the task ahead.
“Both of them recalled moments that they worked together in the past and reflected on the respect and admiration they have for each other.’’ He said
The statement further stated that the new DG took a tour of the National Headquarters, urging staff on duty to remain vigilant, resourceful, dedicated and loyal to the Service, constituted authorities and Nigeria at large.
Highlight of the handing over ceremony was the handing over of the Service flag and other insignias of office by the former DG to the new one.
