The Taraba State House of Assembly on Thursday, said it has no intention to declare, the state deputy governor Aminu Alkali, incapacitated as being speculated in some quarters.
It would be recalled that Alkali had gone on medical vacation since November 2024, a development that is raising concerns in some quarters that he had overstayed away from duty.
He said to be undergoing treatment and recuperating in a medical facility in Abuja.
Chairman of the Assembly’s Committee on Information, Nelson Len, gave this clarification at a press conference in Jalingo, Thursday.
He noted that the State governor, Kefas Agber is making frantic efforts to ensure the recovery and return to duty of the deputy governor who is expected to resume duty once he is fully recovered.
“It is not true that the house was planning to declare Alkali incapacitated. None of the three arms of government has considered replacing him.
“We call on the general public to disregard the speculations that the assembly is preparing to declare the deputy governor incapacitated,” Len said.
