Nollywood stars on Wednesday night gathered to honour late actor Alexx Ekubo, at his service of songs in Lekki, Lagos, ahead of his June 18 burial in Abia State.
The event was a moving tribute to the beloved actor who passed away on May 11 at the age of 40 years after a battle with kidney cancer.
The hall was filled with emotion as celebrities, family, and fans paid their respects.
Among those present were Funke Akindele, AY Makun, Frank Edoho, Chike, Kate Henshaw, Nancy Isime, Ini Edo, and several other celebrities.
The service was anchored by Pastors Jerry Eze and Ituah Ighodalo, who led prayers and comforting messages.
Gospel artistes including Mercy Chinwo, Nathaniel Bassey, Moses Bliss, and others led worship sessions that filled the hall with emotion and reverence.
The atmosphere was spiritual yet celebratory, reflecting Alexx’s vibrant personality and deep faith.
Attendees described the event as a “heavenly send-off,” where tears mingled with gratitude for the joy he brought to Nollywood and beyond.
One of the most touching moments came when Alexx Ekubo’s sister-in-law spoke about his devotion to his wife, Anwuli, and his unwavering love for family.
Actor IK Ogbonna, a close friend, broke down as he shared memories of their brotherhood, calling Alexx “a man of laughter and loyalty.
Nancy Isime described him as “a light that never dimmed, while Funke Akindele praised his humility and professionalism.
The service of songs marked the beginning of Alexx Ekubo’s final journey home.
