The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected thugs and rescued two victims allegedly attacked by a group of hoodlums in Kano Municipal Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kano on Friday.
According to him, the victims, both residents of Makwarari Quarters, were trekking to a nearby football pitch when they were allegedly attacked by the hoodlums around the Kofar Naisa area.
He said the attackers allegedly inflicted multiple injuries on the victims with dangerous weapons, including knives and cutlasses.
Idris-Abdullahi said operatives of the command’s Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), who were on routine patrol in the area, swiftly intervened and rescued the victims.
He said two suspected members of the gang, Ibrahim Abdullahi, 23, and Aminu Jazuli, 20, were arrested at the scene.
“Several other suspects, many of whom were armed with dangerous weapons, fled upon sighting the approaching NSCDC operatives,” he said.
The spokesperson said the injured victims were given the necessary assistance, while the two suspects remained in NSCDC custody for investigation.
Idris-Abdullahi quoted the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, as commending the CTU operatives for their prompt response.
Hassan-Agalama urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and acts of violence to security agencies.
He assured the public that the suspects would face appropriate legal action upon the completion of investigations.
The commandant reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security across Kano State.
