ONDO SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT: APC YOUTH LEADERS, IGBOS BACK KEKEMEKE’s BID

As the race for the 2027 general election gradually gains momentum across the country, the candidacy of Dr D.I. Kekemeke for the Ondo South Senatorial District has received pledges of support and commitment from Igbos across the six local government areas of the district and APC youth leaders in Ondo State.

Making the declaration at a zonal meeting of the Igbos in Ore on Saturday, leaders and representatives from the six local government areas reaffirmed their commitment to mobilise support for his victory at the polls.

Speaking at the meeting, the Coordinator of Igbos in APC, Ondo South Senatorial District, Hon. Alex Onuigbo, described Hon. D.I. Kekemeke as a committed and dependable party leader who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the APC in Ondo State.

According to him, Kekemeke’s contributions to the party, particularly in strengthening party structures and creating room for different groups to participate meaningfully, have earned him the confidence and support of the Igbo community.

Hon. Onuigbo assured that Igbos across the six local government areas in Ondo South Senatorial District would work collectively to mobilise their members and deliver massive support for Kekemeke at the polls.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Leader of Igbos in APC, Ondo State, Hon. Arinze Okafor, recalled that Hon. Kekemeke was among the first party leaders to give the non-indigenous community a meaningful platform to actively participate in the affairs of the APC in the state.

Hon. Arinze explained that this inclusive approach created opportunities for many non-indigenes, including members of the Igbo community, to rise within the party and benefit from various appointments, empowerment programmes and other opportunities.

He further noted that several Igbos are currently serving as APC executives at both ward and local government levels across Ondo State.

He described this as a reflection of the growing participation and integration of the Igbo community in the political affairs of the state.

The high point of the meeting was the renewed commitment by the Igbo community in Ondo South Senatorial District to mobilise across the six local government areas and work tirelessly towards the electoral victory of Hon. D.I. Kekemeke.

Meanwhile, during a visit to Dr D.I. Kekemeke in Akure, APC youth leaders from the six local government areas in Ondo South, led by the Ondo State APC Youth Leader, Hon. Adedeji Clement Opeyemi, and his deputy, Hon. Akinrodoye, pledged their “undiluted loyalty” to Kekemeke’s emergence as the party’s candidate in the general election and promised to deliver massive votes for him.

Responding, the Senatorial aspirant assured the party leaders and the people of Ondo South of his commitment to quality representation at the National Assembly.

He stressed that his desire to represent Ondo South was “not mere posturing or seeking self-benefit, but one genuinely conceived to leverage politics for the good of the people of Ondo South and Ondo State through impactful and fearless representation.”
