No fewer than 1.7million Nigerians are currently receiving treatment for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) across the 36 States and FCT, Abuja.
This is According to the latest figures by the National Data Repository, released on May 13, 2026.
The data indicated that Benue State recorded 195,305 patients on treatment, followed by Akwa Ibom with 158,201 and Lagos with 135,918.
Rivers State recorded 90,055 patients, Nasarawa had 65,996, while the Federal Capital Territory recorded 62,627 patients receiving treatment.

Anambra recorded 46,602 patients, with Adamawa recording 42,074 patients, while Kano recorded 41,093 patients, Kogi recorded 37,301 patients and Oyo recorded 33,133 patients.
Niger recorded 33,057 patients, Ogun recorded 31,822 patients, Bauchi recorded 29,745 patients, Edo recorded 29,256 patients, Gombe recorded 28,037 patients, Osun recorded 25,018 patients, Borno recorded 24,527 patients, Ondo recorded 22,455 patients, Kebbi recorded 20,803 patients, Bayelsa recorded 19,549 patients, Katsina recorded 18,682 patients, Ebonyi recorded 15,474 patients, Kwara recorded 14,997 patients, Jigawa recorded 14,302 patients, Zamfara recorded 13,813 patients, Ekiti recorded 12,356 patients, Yobe recorded 10,716 patients and Sokoto recorded 10,511 patients.”
In all, the National Data Repository put the total number of Nigerians currently receiving treatment for HIV at 1.70million as of May 13, 2026, highlighting the scale of treatment coverage across the country.
