Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has appointed 10 Special Advisers and nominated three commissioners as he moves to complete the formation of his cabinet for his second four-year term.
The appointments include two new Special Advisers and eight officials who served in his previous administration, reflecting a combination of new appointments and continuity in the state government.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, announced the appointments in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, following the Ekiti State House of Assembly’s approval of the request to appoint 10 Special Advisers.
The 10 appointees are Professor James Olaleye, assigned to e-GIS, Lands and Survey; James Folorunso, Bureau of Public Procurement; Dr John Moyo Ekundayo, Office of Transformation, Strategy and Delivery; Bunmi Talabi, Bureau of Special Projects; and Olayinka Oyebode, Media.
Others are Princess Adetoun Agboola, Special Education and Social Inclusion; Dr Gbenga Oyewole, Development, Planning and Budget; Kayode Adaramodu, Economic Affairs and Private Sector Development; Ebenezer Boluwade, Agriculture and Food Security; and Professor Akeem Azeez, Special Duties.
The governor also secured the Assembly’s confirmation of three commissioner-designates. They are Dayo Apata (SAN) as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Akintunde Oyebode as Commissioner for Finance, and Dr Oyebanji Filani as Commissioner for Health and Human Services.
According to the Chief Press Secretary, the swearing-in ceremony for the 10 Special Advisers and the three commissioners-designate will take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, by 2pm.
Oyebanji had approached the Ekiti State House of Assembly on October 27, barely 10 days after his inauguration for a second term, seeking approval for the appointments.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, the governor requested approval for the reappointment of three commissioners from his first-term administration and the appointment of 10 Special Advisers to support the day-to-day administration of the state.
The letter explained that the proposed appointments were intended to establish key components of the new administration early and maintain continuity in critical sectors of governance.
Oyebanji was re-elected in the June 20 Ekiti State governorship election and inaugurated for another four-year term on October 16, 2026.
