Police Arrest 4 Suspects Issuing Kidnapp Threats to Residents in Anambra

By Kamsi Anayo, Awka

The Anambra State Police Command, has confirmed the arrest of four suspects issuing threats of abduction to residents in the state.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the State Police Public Relations Officer,  who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, attributed police successes to the cooperation of residents and the efforts of the Joint Security Force in the area.

He said the suspects — Chimezie Ezebuo, Chinaza Ndimani, Chinecherem Okafor, and Nzube Azubuike, all males from Okohia, Ihiala — were apprehended on April 10, at about 2:53 p.m, the statement added.

Recovered from the suspects were mobile phones and SIM cards used to send threat messages and incite panic in the area.

SP Ikenga revealed that the arrests followed a painstaking investigation based on credible intelligence about faceless individuals engaging in cyberstalking and issuing threats to residents.

He added that all four suspects have confessed to the crime and are currently in custody for further interrogation.

He emphasized that such criminal actions would not only cause fear among residents but also undermine the security efforts of law enforcement agencies in the state.

The Police Command reassured members of the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and safety, while also commending the people of Ihiala for their cooperation in identifying and exposing criminal elements in their community.
