The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, for allegedly killing his father and dumping his body in an abandoned well in Sangere, Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
The command said the suspect was taken into custody after a report was received by police operatives, prompting an investigation into the incident.
Confirming the arrest on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said preliminary findings linked the suspect to the alleged murder.
Nguroje stated, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly killed his father and disposed his body in a well within their community.”
According to the police, the victim’s body has since been recovered from the well and deposited in a mortuary for an autopsy.
“The corpse has been recovered and deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” he added.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Kabiru Hassan, directed a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
While condemning the act, the police commissioner assured residents that the command remained committed to protecting lives and ensuring justice.
He also urged members of the public to adopt lawful and peaceful means of resolving family disputes and seek appropriate intervention whenever conflicts arise.
