The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, for allegedly abducting a two-year-old boy in the Elemoro area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the case was reported by the child’s mother last week.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on September 21, 2025, around 11:50 pm, when the mother reported at Elemoro Division that her security guard had fled with her son and a mobile phone without her consent.

“The suspect later used the stolen phone to contact the child’s father, demanding a ransom of five million Naira (₦5,000,000) for his release,” Adebisi said.

She explained that investigators immediately questioned one Aruna Dauda, who had stood as guarantor for the suspect before his employment.

The suspect eventually released the child unharmed, but police operatives continued their manhunt until he was arrested.

Kini has since confessed to the crime and remains in custody. He will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, condemned the abduction and assured residents of the command’s commitment to combating violent crimes.

The police urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency numbers.
