Three men have been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of a woman identified as Khadija, also known as Nana, in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The suspects were apprehended on November 2, following a report of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, according to the Bauchi State Police Command.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that the incident occurred at about 7:30pm on October 31.

Habib said the Officer-in-Charge of the Zalau Police Out-Station, under the Toro Division, reported that the suspects allegedly attacked the woman with a cutlass, causing severe injuries to her head.

Khadija, who was a resident of Unguwan Gangare in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, was taken to the General Hospital, Toro, for emergency treatment.

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Out-Station swiftly mobilised and rushed the victim to General Hospital, Toro, for urgent medical attention. She was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty,” the statement said.

The police identified the suspects as Aliyu Musa, 25, of Babale, Jos North LGA, Plateau State; Samsu Musa, 25, of Dawa Village, Zalau Ward, Toro LGA; and Auwalu Kabiru, 22, of Tilden Fulani, Toro LGA, Bauchi State.

The victim’s remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Habib said the command was making efforts to locate and contact her family, while the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the killing and assured residents that those responsible would face justice.

“The Commissioner of Police condemns the dastardly act in its totality and assures the public that justice will be served,” the statement added.

The command urged residents to provide timely information to the nearest police formation, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

The arrest comes days after the command apprehended four youths over the alleged abduction and gang rape of a 12-year-old girl in Sakwa District, Zaki Local Government Area.

Police also arrested a 15-year-old boy over the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Buskuri Village, Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.
