The Benue State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Mr. Benjamin Msughaondo.
The Command’s police public relations officer PPRO, DSP Edet Udeme, confirmed this to our correspondent in a telephone interview on Friday in Makurdi.
Udeme said the tragic incident occurred
Occurred at Major settlement near Buruku Local Government Secretariat between 11pm to 12midnight on Sunday.
According to her, the deceased was allegedly accused by a group of hoodlums of stealing a motorcycle and was subsequently mobbed to death without any form of investigation.
She explained that preliminary findings revealed that the accusation was false, as documents relating to the motorcycle indicated that the deceased was its rightful owner.
The police spokesperson further stated that two suspects, identified as Terkimbi Abumswende and Joshua Adagim, have been arrested in connection with the crime, while another suspect remains at large.
She added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and assured that a thorough investigation would be carried out to ensure all those involved are brought to justice
