Kano State Police Command has banned all Sallah Durbar celebrations ahead of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festivities, citing security concerns and risk of unrest.

Commissioner of Police made the announcement at the Bompai Police Headquarters on Friday.
According to him, intelligence reports indicated potential threats from certain groups planning to disrupt the event.
After discussions with the state government and other key stakeholders, the decision was made to prohibit the celebrations.
“To ensure a safe and peaceful celebration, the police command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has reviewed the situation and decided to ban all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festival,” Bakori added.
He urged worshippers to conduct their Eid prayers only at designated praying grounds and follow security measures, including:
“Avoid carrying suspicious or unnecessary objects.
‘No horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, or reckless driving.
“Parents should warn their children against engaging in disruptive activities.
“Residents were also advised to avoid any actions that could lead to unrest,” noted
Bakori assured the public that security forces would be deployed to ensure a peaceful Sallah celebration. He encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities via emergency numbers (08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926) or through the NPF Rescue Me app.
“As we celebrate, let us prioritize peace, set aside our differences, and unite as law-abiding citizens for the progress of our state and nation,” Bakori urged.
