The Nigeria Police Force has condemned the unprofessional conduct of some of its officers captured in a viral video receiving money from a Chinese national.
Describing the behaviour as unethical, unprofessional, and unacceptable, the Force emphasized that such actions are contrary to its established codes of conduct and core values.
In a statement issued on Thursday signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police confirmed that the officers involved have been identified and placed under disciplinary proceedings.
“The Nigeria Police Force maintains a zero-tolerance stance on all forms of misconduct. The behaviour exhibited in the video undermines public trust and does not reflect the standards expected of our personnel,” the statement read.
The Force further cautioned individuals, corporate organizations, and other entities engaging police officers for escort or guard duties to refrain from actions that could demean the integrity of police personnel or bring the institution into disrepute.
“Those privileged to engage the services of Police officers must conduct themselves responsibly and avoid any form of inducement or inappropriate engagement that compromises the image of the Force,” it added.
The Police reiterated its commitment to professionalism, integrity, and accountability, assuring the public that the matter will be handled with the seriousness it deserves.
