Rivers APC Caretaker Committee Marches For Tinubu
… Accuses Gov Fubara Of Sponsoring Hunger Protests
By Tom Zaneni, Abuja
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, on Tuesday, staged a solidarity rally in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu in Port Harcourt.
Led by the embattled state APC caretaker committee chairman, Tony Okocha, members of the Renewed Hope Agenda family walked for over seven kilometers, starting from the Port Harcourt Polo Club in GRA and ending at the Port Harcourt Club.
Okocha, while addressing the crowd, alleged that the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara masterminded the recently-concluded #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria mass protests to embarrass the president.
He said the solidarity march was a demonstration of their unflinching support for Tinubu; the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
The APC chieftain said, “This is what we call protest or whatever you call it. We are marching for Mr President. We want to clean the rot that was typical of August 1 to August 10.
“We imagine that in Rivers State, you all know, you are from here, Rivers State has never been an epicentre for any protest or demonstration. I was very active in the EndSARS protest. Did you see that protest in Rivers State being as profuse and excruciating as what you saw?
“So there must be a reason, that reason is the fact that the man who funded, sponsored and held midnight meetings with youths is the only person that benefited from the 10 days of inactivities in Nigeria, particularly in Rivers State.
“On the first day that youths gathered, the Governor had the presence of mind to take the rostrum to tell the youths that he will pass their message to Mr President, assuming and absolving himself from the accusations.”
Okocha continued: “I am sure you all saw him when he said he would give them something for pure water and bread. When other governors in other states are circumspect and busy with all strata of people in their states to tackle the protest, our own Governor moves freely to commission projects or attend a burial of somebody’s mother in Khana, didn’t you see that?
“And whilst he was moving, he drove deliberately through the crowd, the people that he mobilized to protest against Tinubu and he wants to tell the world that he is a supporter of Tinubu.
“It is a fat lie, he hates President Tinubu. This is the Tinubu family in Rivers State and it is under the leadership of Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.”
Speaking earlier, a former Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu, said that the country was moving fast in the wrong direction before the emergence of Tinubu.
Worlu, who was among some of the commissioners that resigned from Fubara’s cabinet, added that the President was working hard to fix an economy that had already deteriorated.
While calling on the people of the state to pray for the president to revamp Nigeria, he commended Tinubu for taking hard but right decisions to redirect the country from the path of destruction…. Accuses Gov Fubara Of Sponsoring Hunger Protests
