Rivers APC Rejects Impeachment Move Against Fubara

By Kamsi Anayo and Attah Ede

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has rejected the impeachment proceedings initiated by the State House of Assembly against Gov. Simi Fubara and his deputy, citing it as an “unfortunate development” and a “hangover from strifes within the PDP”.

In a statement signed by Darlington Nwauju, the APC spokesperson, the party emphasized that while the legislature has a constitutional role in checks and balances, the impeachment process is unacceptable.

The party argues that the budget approved by the National Assembly in May 2025, with a total allocation of ₦1.485 trillion, is valid until August 2026, and Fubara may not need to present a supplementary budget.

The APC urged its members in the State Assembly to resist external pressures and discontinue the impeachment process to prevent destabilizing the government and damaging the party’s image.

The party vowed to ensure the stability of the Rivers State government, led by Governor Fubara, and called for democratic principles to prevail.
