Rivers Assembly holds plenary after 6-month suspension

The Rivers State House of Assembly Thursday hold its plenary session, after a six-month suspension imposed during the State of Emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu on March 18.

The President declared emergency rule in the state on March 18, citing the need to prevent anarchy and protect vital economic assets such as oil pipelines.

The sitting held at the Assembly Residential Complex along the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway was led by the Speaker Martin Amaewhule.

The lawmakers resolved to write to Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, requesting him to forward a list of commissioner nominees for consideration during the session.

This move was aimed at getting the state government back on track after the prolonged suspension.

Some of the lawmakers were  absent from the plenary session. 

They included Hon. Oko Jumbo, Hon. Sokari Goodboy, and Hon. Timothy O.
