The Ijaw National Congress(INC), on Thursday, cautioned President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to as a matter of urgency cutdown the excesses of the Minister of Federal CapitalTerritory(FCT), Nyesom Wike or be ready to choose between his minister and the entire Ijaw nation.
The sociocultural group further stressed that a man who could publicly insult the personality of late pa Edwin Clark has completely gone bananas and needs urgent attention
The President of Ijaw National Congress(INC), Prof Benjamin Okaba, spoke while reacting to the media attacks on the ijaw nation by the Wike on Wednesday.
He said that the insults on the Ijaw ethnic nationality by Wike, had got to an intolerable height which requires urgent intervention from Mr. President who employs him.
However, Prof. Okaba said that while the Ijaw nation had watched Wike heap insults on Ijaw people, his action would not result in an issue with his Ikwerre ethnic stock who are seen as friends of the Ijaw people have them as friends and respect their views and disposition.
He maintained that the Ijaw Nation has not seen any crime committed by the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara whom he described and would continue to support him.
He stressed that the INC will apply every legitimate means to support and defend their son, adding that they have instructed governor to tow the part of peace, be respectful, never to behave like Wike who will not respect somebody like Pa Clarke.
“Wike is referring to Pa Clarke who just died as if he is his mate. Pa Clark should be Wike’s grandfather. When a man does not have respect for elderly people, you know that, he has gone bananas.
“Somebody who has now turned into an ancestor, you are still casually referring to him as Clark. Let society judge who is towing the path of peace.
“Wike had dared us some years ago. He said thunder fire Ijaw and we sent thunder to him because ijaw nation knows the origin of the spirit of thunder. Ever since we sent thunder to Wike, look at him, look at his physic, does he look the same? Thunder is tormenting Wike now as we speak.
“The thunder he sent to us, we have sent it back to him and is tormenting him seriously. Let him send another thing and we will send it back to sender.
“We are a peace loving people. Where were the grand fathers of Wike when ijaw elders fought the independence of Rivers state.
“Therefore, President Tinubu has the choice, to choose between Wike and Ijaw nation.
“Let him be encouraging him to mess up himself in the public. Let him encourage him to be insulting people. But should the otherwise happens, they should not hold the leadership of ijaw nation responsible and that is why he wants as many structures as possible to fall and die with him.
“We shall help him. He is frustrated and getting so desperate because the political economy of Rivers state is slipping off. Wike will not win.
“Government is not about individuals. One person cannot be more powerful than an institution, that is the statement we are making.
“We know that this man called Wike is fighting alone, fighting the last fight. That is why he is amassing so much energy, putting everything into play, insulting everybody, trying to bring down everything as a drowning man. Wike is already a drowning man”, Prof. Okaba alluded
