The directive of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state for commercial and economic activities to resume fully on Mondays in the state is still being ignored by the residents.
The residents including traders, schools, banks and other commercial business operatives complied with the Monday-sit/at home order declared by the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).
Soludo had during a recent visit to the Onitsha Main Market and other markets within metropolis threatened to seal shops that disobeys
his directive to resume business activities in Mondays.
Despite his directive economic activities were again on Monday crippled in Onitsha, Nnewi, both commercial hubs of the state, Awka, the state capital and other areas, while people stayed in their homes.
Our Correspondent who monitored activities in the state observed that school children were turned back home by the various school authorities.
The children who went to school on Monday were asked to go back following the IPOB order on Monday for people sit at home, which has taken some years in South East region.
Our Correspondent who observed the sit-at-home in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and other areas in the state reports that virtually all the business offices, shops were under lock and key.
The banks, shops and private establishment were shut down for fear of being attacked.
In Awka, most of shops were also closed, while vehicles were off the roads, leaving commuters to trek to their destinations.
Mr Henry Okaa, a cyber cafe operator told our Correspondent that he did not open shop in fear of being attack.
He alleged that people were being apprehensive, following the government refusal to provide adequate security to boost confidence to operate without fear.
