From Attah Ede, Makurdi

Suspected Jukun militants have allegedly killed three fisher women in Tse ijim, near Anyiin, Ukember Agya, Gaambetiev, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
It was learnt that the three Tiv women were returning from the market along the Anyiin-Wukari road on the side of Benue State land when they were ambushed and slaughtered by the militia.
An eyewitness, Teryila Abuur, told journalists in Makurdi that the women were waylaid and slaughtered by the gunmen on their way back.
Logo Local Government Area in Benue State shares a boundary with Wukari Local Government Area in Taraba State, an area plagued by skirmishes between Tiv and Jukun communities for over 30 years.
The incident, which occurred around 4 pm on Monday, caused widespread panic along the farming communities in Gaambetiev, according to a community leader, Chief Iorbee Fate.
There were concerns that the incident may ignite another round of violence between Jukun and Tiv tribes that live along the boundary communities in Wukari and Logo Local Government Areas.
As of press time, the bodies of the three women were deposited at Anyiin Health Centre.
The Police Area Command said they were yet to receive a report on the incident.
