Suswam Urges Benue People to Support Gov Alia to succeed

•••Says Elections Are Over

Attah Ede, Makurdi

A chieftain of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and a strong contender for the national  chairman of the party, Senator Gabriel Suswam, on Wednesday, called on Benue people to support Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia to succeed in offiice irrespective of political affiliation.

The former governor of the State, who made the call while speaking at a reception after the burial of first class chief, Tor-Jerchira in Zone at Vandeikya local government area  HRH, Chief Clement Uganden  pledged his continuous support to Governor Alia.

He maintained that Alia was doing well hence his support for him, regardless of being a member of PDP.

According to him, the time of politicking is now over and Fr. Alia is now the Governor of the State, and  must be supported  to succeed.

“It is so ridiculous that some of our brothers wrote a petition in the newspaper against the Governor, to the President that he is taking steps to destroy APC in the State.

“This is  just because the Governor was seeing in pictures with me at different occasions. Why must we reduce ourselves in the name of politics to that level?”, Suswam queried.

On his part, Governor Alia said his administration  would  always prioritize peace, true love, justice, and development of the State.

He warned those engrossed in the moves to pull him down against the wishes of the majority, to be rest assured that his covenant with the people, would subject them to humiliation.

The Governor assured Benue people that he will  continue to show unwavering commitment towards  providing  welfare to the people.

According to him, these include prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuity, construction of rural and urban roads, health care facilities, quality education, security of lives and property, agricultural emancipation, return of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their ancestral homes, and visible economic ventures.

He announced that his administration will soon employ 9000 teachers to address shortage of teachers across  government-owned  primary and secondary schools in the State.

Governor Alia noted that the number of teachers to be employed, is a  demonstration of his resilience to further provide good governance for the State against the evil wishes of his critics, who have vowed that he will not succeed.

The Governor described the Late Tor-Jerchira as a beacon of hope for humanity, whose benevolence he said, impacted positively on the lives of the people, within his kingdom, and beyond.

Governor Alia expressed sadness over the death of the First Class Chief, and called on all Tiv sons and daughters, to emulate his good virtues, as one indivisible entity.
