President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals into the boards and management of 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced on Monday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Presidency, Fayose will chair the REA Board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors.
The board will also include the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa (rtd.) as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, alongside eight other officials.
The appointments include former House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas as Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were named commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states, respectively.
Other members of the commission are Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, the immediate past Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Among other appointments, Dr Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET).
Tinubu also approved the appointment of Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, while Engineer Julius Oloro was named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
The President equally constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.
Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
In the education sector, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier redeployed to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
The President also named Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue the Benue State governorship race.
According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect and are expected to strengthen governance, improve institutional efficiency and enhance service delivery across the affected agencies.
