President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which began shortly before 4 p.m. on Thursday, followed a separate session of the National Economic Council (NEC), chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The agenda of the meeting was not immediately disclosed as of the time of filing this report, while the discussions were still ongoing.
The meeting comes eight days after the formal commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general elections, in accordance with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It also comes five days after the APC released the list of members of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.
The campaign council is to be headed by former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, who was appointed Director-General.
Although the details of Thursday’s meeting remained unclear, the engagement between the President and the APC governors comes against the backdrop of preparations for the 2027 elections and ongoing efforts by the ruling party to strengthen its political structures across the country.
