Tinubu Orders Military to Crush Terrorists, Bandits, Separatists

By Joy Yesufu

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies to take firm and decisive action against terrorists, insurgents, bandits, and separatist groups threatening Nigeria’s unity and stability.

The directive was delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday during the grand finale of the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration held in Kaduna.

“To the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, I say this with absolute clarity: the time to rise is now.  You have my full authorisation and the trust of the Nigerian people to confront and defeat those who seek to undermine our nation. You have my confidence, my support, and my prayers.” the president said.

President Tinubu described terrorism, banditry, and separatist agitations as existential threats that must be confronted with urgency and resolve, noting that such threats “do not discriminate,  they destroy churches and mosques alike and orphan children without asking their tribe or faith.”

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the military through investment in modern equipment, intelligence capabilities, and the welfare of personnel to safeguard national security and territorial integrity.

The renewed charge comes amid growing public concerns over persistent insecurity across various states, including ongoing abductions, rural attacks, and violent crimes, despite previous promises by the Tinubu administration to restore peace and security.

In 2022, Tinubu, while accepting the APC presidential ticket, pledged to eliminate insecurity, a promise reiterated by Vice President Shettima during the campaign, where he vowed to lead security operations if necessary.

In a tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes, President Tinubu also pledged that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.
