President Bola Tinubu has assented to the bills seeking the establishment of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) and College of Agricultural Technology, Opialu-Ojapo.
The bill was sponsored by the senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro.
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, announced it on Tuesday during plenary.
During the session, Akpabio expressed optimism regarding the impact of the NCDC which is set to take off .
He stated, “Mr. President has assented to the North-Central Development Commission establishment bill 2024, aimed at bringing development to the grassroots.”
He further congratulated the people of the North-Central region and emphasized the importance of this commission in promoting peace and enhancing development as the nation moves forward in its nation-building efforts.
The NCDC is expected to play a vital role in addressing developmental challenges and facilitating sustainable growth in the North-Central region, fostering an environment of progress for its residents.
While the North Central Development Commission Bill was passed into law by the senate on the 4th of July, 2024, the bill seeking the establishment of Federal College of Agricultural Technology, Opialu-Ojapo, was passed into law on the 23rd of July, 2024.
With the presidential assent, the processes for the establishment of the commission and the institution have been concluded and ready for take off.
