Troops from Sector 2, in a coordinated effort with the Air Component of the Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have achieved a significant breakthrough, rescuing 101 kidnapped individuals over two days in Katsina and Zamfara States on March 17 and 18, 2025.
This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
He reiterated the commitment of the military to ensure the safety and security of communities in Katsina and Zamfara States.
He said, a fierce confrontation in the Faru District of Maradun Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara State, resulted in the elimination of 10 terrorists.
In Katsina State, troops executed a well-coordinated assault on a terrorist hideout in Pauwa High Ground, Kankara LGA, resulting in the neutralization of 3 terrorists.
A total of 84 kidnapped victims were rescued and subsequently handed over to local authorities for assistance.
Also in Zamfara State, based on valuable intelligence reports, troops engaged terrorists in Bagabuzu, Faru District, Maradun LGA.
The operation led to the elimination of 7 terrorists, alongside the seizure of a motorcycle and other valuable items. Furthermore, 17 individuals held captive by a notorious terrorist kingpin were rescued from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi LGA. These rescued individuals are currently receiving medical care at a local hospital.
Col Abdullahi also urged the public to maintain cooperation and vigilance, emphasizing that community support is crucial in the ongoing fight against terrorism
