The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The Chairman of the commission, Emeka Ezeh, announced the development in a statement issued on Wednesday and shared by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
Ezeh said the approval reflects the commitment of the FCT Administration to staff welfare and career progression within the civil service.
He also said that Wike had directed the commission to immediately begin the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure that eligible officers are promoted when due.
According to him, the promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to 3, while junior staff members sat for their examinations on July 10.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory. For us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr President,” Ezeh said.
He noted that the directive demonstrates the administration’s intention to combine infrastructure development with improved welfare and professional advancement for workers.
The commission chairman commended Wike for supporting the successful conduct of the promotion exercise and praised civil servants for their orderly and peaceful participation throughout the process.
Ezeh also appreciated the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee for its cooperation, which he said contributed to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
He urged officers expected to participate in the 2026 promotion exercise to begin preparations early, stressing that promotion in the FCT Civil Service remains merit-based, competitive and subject to available vacancies.
The promotion approval comes as the FCT Administration marks recent milestones, including the commissioning and flag-off of more than 30 projects between June 8 and July 17, 2026.
