The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that all infrastructure projects initiated under President Bola Tinubu’s administration in Abuja will be completed before the end of the President’s tenure.
Wike gave the assurance during his monthly media chat in Port Harcourt, where he highlighted ongoing and completed projects being executed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the minister, the administration has recorded significant progress on capital projects across the FCT, with dozens already completed and commissioned.
“The President’s administration under Bola Tinubu commissioned 107 capital projects. We have completed 76. Before the January election, we will commission 10, and before the end of his tenure, we would have commissioned all the projects,” Wike said.
He stated that 107 capital projects had so far been commissioned under the current administration, noting that 76 had been fully completed, while additional projects would be inaugurated in the coming months.
Wike also disclosed that the FCT Administration had continued work on projects inherited from previous administrations, recording substantial completion rates.
According to him, 23 of the 25 projects inherited from the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari have been completed, while work continues on the remaining two.
“We inherited 25 projects from President Buhari and completed 23, while two are currently ongoing,” he said.
The minister added that the administration also took over eight projects initiated during the administrations of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
“We inherited eight projects from the administrations of President Jonathan and President Yar’Adua. We have completed six, while two are ongoing,” Wike stated.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development in the nation’s capital, Wike said all ongoing projects would be delivered before the expiration of President Tinubu’s tenure.
“Before this tenure expires, every project started under Bola Tinubu would have been completed,” he said.
The minister also challenged critics to assess the scale of development recorded in the FCT under the current administration against previous governments.
“In the history of the FCT, no government has done what we have done in Abuja. I challenge anyone to come out,” Wike stated.
