A year one student in the department of Mass Communication at the Taraba State University (TSU), identified as Comfort Jimtop Oliver, has reportedly died at her boyfriend’s apartment in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
The lifeless body of Comfort was found in the room located at Bakasi area of Jalingo, near Dr. Rapha’s quarters, opposite the Vice-Chancellor’s gate on Friday, September 12, 2025.
The deceased, an indigene of Takum Local Government Area, was said to have hailed from the Kuteb ethnic nationality.
Our correspondent gathered that the circumstances surrounding her death remain unknown at the time of filing this report .
However, it was further gathered that authorities have commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding her dead.
As at Saturday, a police personnel who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak, confirmed that preliminary findings are underway.
The police officer, who is among the team conducting investigation into the matter, said that empty bottles of hard drinks were found beside the bed where she died.
“By the time the matter was reported to our station which is located at the gate of the university, on our arrival, nobody was found in the house which has over 15 tenants.
“The owner of the room, who is believed to be the boyfriend of the deceased was not also found and is at large.
“We found empty bottles of hard drinks beside the bed where she died, we are currently undergoing investigation into the incident”, he said
Efforts to get the Taraba State command police public relations officer PPRO, proved abortive as his phone could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
