Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of Alhaji Shehu Baraya as the new Head of the Zamfara State Civil Service, marking a leadership transition in the state’s public service administration.

The appointment takes immediate effect and was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada.

The statement, released through the Senior Special Assistant (Media) in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Suleman Ahmad Tudu, said Baraya succeeds Alhaji Yakubu Haidara, who recently retired from the civil service after completing his years of service.

Baraya is regarded as a veteran civil servant with extensive experience in public administration and government operations across the state.

“The new Head of Service is a seasoned career civil servant with extensive institutional experience and a deep understanding of public administration. He has served as Permanent Secretary in several ministries and, until his appointment, was the Permanent Secretary, Zamfara State Civil Service Commission,” the statement read.

Before his elevation, Baraya served as Permanent Secretary at the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission and had previously held similar positions in several ministries.

Governor Lawal praised Haidara for his contributions to the development of the state civil service and wished him a rewarding retirement.

The governor also tasked the new Head of Service with strengthening professionalism, promoting discipline and improving efficiency across government institutions.

Lawal urged Baraya to deploy his experience and administrative expertise to enhance productivity and support ongoing reforms in the civil service.

The governor said the appointment aligns with his administration’s Rescue Agenda and its commitment to building a more effective and responsive public service for the people of Zamfara State.
