Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has obtained the presidential nomination and expression of interest form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
The nomination form was picked up on Amaechi’s behalf on Friday at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja by a delegation led by former Edo State Governor, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who currently chairs the ADC Policy and Manifesto Committee.
The delegation also included Senator Abatemi-Usman and other party stakeholders.
Amaechi’s entry into the race follows growing support from sections of the party, particularly ADC leaders from the South-South region who have reportedly endorsed his aspiration.
The former Rivers governor becomes the second aspirant to obtain the party’s presidential form, which costs 90 million Naira.
Earlier, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen had also picked the ADC nomination form, signalling his intention to contest the presidency on the party’s platform.
Amaechi, who previously served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly before becoming a two-term governor, has repeatedly stressed the need for competent leadership, youth inclusion and power rotation to the southern region.
He has also identified security, economic reform and infrastructure development as key priorities for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, his years in public office and experience in governance have equipped him with the capacity to address the country’s challenges.
He further maintained that he understands Nigeria’s problems and possesses the leadership ability needed to solve them.
