Blessing CEO Seeks Forgiveness, Says Son’s Death Has Taught Her Painful Lesson

By Joy Yesufu

Controversial relationship therapist and social media personality, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has apologised for her past comments, saying she has learnt a painful lesson and is ready to make amends.

Okoro made the apology in an emotional video shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, days after her release from custody and amid her grief over the death of her nine-year-old son, Bryan.

Bryan died in a hospital on June 8, 2026, while his mother was in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, over separate fraud allegations.

The deceased, who reportedly suffered from chronic asthma, had experienced recurring health challenges from childhood.

Since her release on bail in late October, Blessing CEO has spoken publicly about her loss, expressing regret over her inability to be with her son before his death.

In the latest video, the social media personality was seen crying inside a car, explaining that she had left home because she did not want her mother to see her in such an emotional state.

“I had to run away from the house. I’m inside the car because I don’t want my mum to see me like this. My family, what do you want me to do? Tell me because I’m confused. My brain is numb,” she said.

Okoro also acknowledged that some of her past remarks might have hurt people, admitting that she had spoken about experiences she had not personally encountered.

“I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt. I’m sorry for speaking about it carelessly,” she said.

Reflecting on the criticism she had received, she acknowledged that words alone were insufficient to demonstrate genuine remorse, stressing the importance of actions.

“I’m realising that talk is cheap. Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words. I’m so ashamed of myself, but I’m human. I’m bound to make mistakes, but mistakes also have a price, and I’m paying for it with my own tears,” she added.

Describing herself as broken and emotionally exhausted, Okoro appealed to those who might have been hurt by her comments to forgive her.
“I’m sorry if my words have affected you in any way. Now I can feel the pain, and I don’t even wish it for my worst enemy. Maybe I was just ignorant. Life has taught me a lesson,” she said.

She also apologised to people who had continued to support her despite the controversies surrounding her, as well as those who had withdrawn their affection because of her actions.

“To those who still love me despite everything, I’m sorry. To those who no longer love me because of my actions, I’m sorry,” she said.

Describing her return to her family as that of a prodigal child, the social media personality said she was not ashamed of seeking refuge in a place where she had previously experienced love and acceptance.

“I’m back home like the prodigal son in the Bible. I’m not ashamed of coming back home where I was celebrated and had everything in abundance. Instead of eating crumbs on the table, this is me making a U-turn,” she said.

She further appealed for an opportunity to make amends, saying she was prepared to acknowledge her mistakes and begin afresh.
“I’m not ashamed to be lost. I just want to find my way back. Let’s start all over again. Now I have learnt my lesson in a very hard way, and I’m sorry,” she added.

The video also featured an emotional tribute to her late son, whom she affectionately called Dum Dum.

Addressing him directly, Okoro said she missed him and promised to correct her mistakes in a bid to continue making him proud.

“To my son who passed, whom I call Dum Dum, I miss you. I miss you, Bryan. I miss you so much, and I promise to correct every wrong. I’m ready to correct every wrong to keep making you proud in heaven,” she said.

She disclosed that the loss had continued to take an emotional toll on the family, particularly his grandmother, adding that they sometimes concealed their grief from one another.

“Your brother misses you so much. Granny has been crying. In fact, me and your granny used to hide to cry. I saw my mum break down this morning, and I couldn’t even look at her face,” she said.

Okoro also mentioned the deceased’s father, brother and other relatives, saying they continued to feel his absence.

She recalled wanting to retrieve her son’s school bag, uniform, lunchbox and books, explaining that gathering his belongings was part of her effort to come to terms with his death.

“I’m sorry, Bryan. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m sorry I came late. I don’t know, but I’m sorry,” she said.

Towards the end of the video, Okoro spoke about the overwhelming nature of her grief, praying for divine intervention as she struggled to cope with the loss.

“I’m praying that God finds me before it’s too late to shut down my heart and me to bury my own child. The pain is too much,” she said.
