The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a suspected high-tech indoor cannabis farm at a residential property in Apapa, arresting two men, including a 49-year-old Polish national and a 36-year-old Nigerian.
The suspects were identified as Thomas Razvickas, a Polish national, and James Chisome, a Nigerian. Police said both men were residing at the property where the facility was discovered.
The Command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying operatives uncovered the facility at about 8:15 a.m. on Monday following credible intelligence.
According to the statement, a search of the premises revealed a sophisticated indoor farming facility allegedly equipped for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of substances suspected to be cannabis.
The police said the two suspects had been arrested and were assisting investigators with information on the operation. The Command also said they had made statements while in custody.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, visited the property to inspect the facility, assess the scale of the operation and receive a briefing on the ongoing investigation.
Fatai commended the operatives for what he described as their vigilance and intelligence-led policing, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to tackling drug-related offences and dismantling criminal networks in the state.
He also appreciated members of the public for providing information to the police and urged residents to sustain their cooperation with security agencies.
The Command assured residents of its continued efforts to prevent and combat criminal activities across Lagos State.
