A fire has broken out on Broad Street, Lagos Island, affecting the Polaris Bank building located near Mandilas Building and behind the Central Bank of Nigeria area.
The fire incident began after a parked vehicle went up in flames, leading to a battery explosion that quickly escalated the situation.
The fire then spread to nearby structures, including the building of Polaris Bank in the busy commercial district.
The affected area is close to the Cenal Bank of Nigeria, where thick smoke and intense flames were seen as the fire spread.
Firefighters battled on the ground to contain the blaze and prevent further damage, while residents and traders in the area look on as the situation unfolds.
However, operatics of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said that the fire had been successfully put out.
The Director of the service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed that the fire originated on the third floor of the building, which also serves as a car park in the tower.
