The operatives of the Afuze Division of the Edo State Police Command have arrested one Earnest Irivboje Ugbomoiko, aged 42, for raising a false alarm of mass abduction in the state.

Ugbomoiko was alleged to have raised the alarm in a post on the social media that hundreds of secondary school students had been kidnapped in St James Secondary School Afuze on Thursday.
It was claimed that heavily armed bandits led the purported victims to an unknown destination.
Findings by the Network revealed that the police in Afuze mobilized promptly to the said location, St James Grammar School, where they were told that nobody was abducted.
However, the police operatives discovered that the fake news had thrown the community into panic as the people became apprehensive.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the Divisional Police Officer of Afuze conducted a discreet investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect, Earnest Irivboje Ugbomoiko, of No 2, Auchi Road, Afuze.
The Police are said to have moved the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations.
The police are also conducting investigating other mischievous posts about abduction in Sabon-Gida Ora, meant to create panic in the state.
