At least seven people have died and 11 others sustained various degrees of injury when a truck fell while dodging potholes at Essa Community along Agaie-Badeggi Road in Katcha local government area of Niger State.
Our correspondent gathered that the truck was conveying grains belonging to the federal government, with all-male passengers numbering about 36, heading to Kano State from Lagos.
It was further gathered that the incident happened at about 3am on Sunday morning.
The information made available to our correspondent also indicated that when the truck driver tried to maneuver through a bad portion of the road, which is under construction, when the vehicle fell.
The director-general of Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba Arah, confirmed the incident.
He however said that search and rescue operations were ongoing and would give further update soon.
