The Nasarawa State Police Command, on Sunday said, one notorious kidnapper, cattle rustler and armed robber identified as Abashe Gizo has been arrested by men of the command in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital .
According to the police command, Gizo has been on the police’s wanted list.
The command’s police public relations officer SP Ramhan Nansel who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said the most wanted crime suspect was apprehended as he was transacting a business at Shinge Market in Lafia.
He said Gizo fell into the hands of the operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) following a credible and actionable intelligence on Saturday.
The PPRO explained that the suspect has been on the Command’s wanted list for an extended period due to multiple offences including kidnapping and cattle rustling.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crimes and led officers to his hideout at Ruwan Baka village, Doma LGA, where one AK-49 rifle (Breach No. 453144) and a magazine were recovered in his possession.
“This feat was also achieved few days after the arrest of one Fatima Salisu, who was intercepted while transporting a cache of ammunition intended for criminal elements from Doma to Katsina State.
“Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed has reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to routing out crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents across Nasarawa State.
“The Command urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as it worked tirelessly to make the communities safer”, the statement read.
