The remains of former Governor of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris, have been committed to mother earth at the Gudu Cemetery in Apo, FCT Abuja.
His remains arrived in the Federal Capital Territory from the United Kingdom, where he died on Sunday at the age of 77.
Governor Usman Ododo, former governors Yahaya Bello and Idris Wada, family members, government officials, political associates and other dignitaries attended the burial in Abuja to pay their last respects.
Prayers, tributes and moments of reflection marked the funeral as mourners remembered the former governor and his years in public service.
The late former governor was elected governor of Kogi State in 2003 on the platform of the PDP and returned to office after a fresh election in 2008, serving until January 2012.
Governor Ododo and other dignitaries at the burial said his administration would be remembered for interventions in road infrastructure, education, healthcare and housing infrastructures.
