Five persons have died at Abubor Nnewichi, Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra state after eating suspected food poison.
An eyewitness said the incident occurred on Monday when the victims from Okwuchukwu Onyimmadu family, Mbosi in Ihiala Local Govrnment Area residing in Nnewichi ate the suspected food poison.
The victims are Onyinye (mother), Miracle, Dominion, Amanda and Kosi.
Their father was said to be battling to survive at a hospital where he was rushed to, even though our source said the man did not eat the killer food but was in a terrible shock.
Our Correspondent gathered that two other siblings in the family, a boy and a girl, were in the village, and not living with their parents in Nnewi and consequently survived the incident.
Meanwhile, the food that caused the death of the Onyimmadu’s is subject to investigation. Some alleged it was a “take-away” brought in from outside, others said they ate cassava food prepared in their home.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the report had not come to his office.
