Fugitive ‘Killaboi’ Extradited to Nigeria Over Alleged Murder of 21-Year-Old Student

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the successful extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria to face prosecution over the murder of 21-year-old Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan.

The extradition was finalized in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025, following a coordinated international operation involving the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL NCB Abuja, and Qatari judicial authorities.

The suspect had been on the run since July 13, 2023, when he allegedly murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe at his residence in Ajah, Lagos, before fleeing the country.

Shortly after, he posted an online video that appeared to confess to the crime, a move police described as a deceptive attempt to mislead investigators.

The process began after the victim’s family, through legal counsel, submitted a petition on September 29, 2024, prompting the assignment of the case to INTERPOL NCB Abuja.

An INTERPOL Red Notice was issued, and Nnayereugo was declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023.

He was first arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, using a false identity, Kanu Princeton Samuel, but managed to escape custody during a prison break on November 26, 2023.

Further intelligence revealed that he had traveled through several countries—including regions in West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, using forged identities. He eventually settled in Doha, Qatar, under the alias Toure Abdoulaye, with a fake Guinean passport.

With the support of advanced biometric verification, INTERPOL NCB Abuja and INTERPOL NCB Doha confirmed his true identity, leading to his arrest by Qatari authorities in February 2025.

An official extradition request from Nigeria was granted, resulting in his repatriation.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, commended the strong collaboration between Nigerian and Qatari authorities, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and INTERPOL for facilitating the arrest and return of the fugitive.

He assured the public that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring justice is served and promised diligent prosecution of the suspect.
