ICPC to Arraign El-Rufai Over Alleged Fraud, Money Laundering Charges

By Joy Yesufu

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced plans to arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, alongside one Joel Adoga, before the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on March 24, 2026.

The anti-graft agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, John Okor Odey.

According to the Commission, the case filed under suit number FHC/KD/73/2026 borders on allegations including conversion and unlawful possession of public property, as well as money laundering.

The ICPC further revealed that a separate charge has been instituted against El-Rufai and Amadu Sule (LEDA) at the Kaduna State High Court. The case, marked KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, involves allegations of abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.

Both cases were filed on March 18, 2026, the Commission stated.

While the Federal High Court has fixed March 24 for the arraignment, the date for proceedings at the State High Court is yet to be announced.

However, the ICPC confirmed that the former governor has been duly served with the charges.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to upholding due process and the rule of law in the prosecution of corruption-related cases.
