Joint Security Forces Neutralise Scores of Bandits in Kogi

By Joy Yesufu

Joint security operatives comprising the Nigerian military and the Nigeria Police Force Air Wing have neutralised scores of bandits during coordinated operations in parts of Kogi State.

The development was confirmed on Sunday in Lokoja by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr William Ovye-Aya, who said the operation was carried out over the weekend as part of sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal elements threatening public safety.

According to him, the joint offensive has recorded significant successes, with bandit camps dismantled and criminal networks effectively dislodged.

“The ongoing onslaught against bandit operations in Kogi by the joint police and military has yielded fruitful results. Bandits were flushed out, their networks dislodged, and scores were neutralised,” Ovye-Aya said.

He added that the operation was executed with vigour, professionalism and commitment, with critical support from the Nigeria Police Force Air Wing through precision air strikes.

The police spokesperson urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report individuals with gunshot wounds, suspicious injuries or unusual behaviour to the nearest police station.

He further appealed for continued public cooperation, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.

“With credible information from the public, we can sustain these gains and ensure lasting peace in the state,” he said.
