From Attah Ede, Makurdi

Youths suspected to be thugs, on Tuesday, attacked the convoy of the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi after arriving Makurdi , the Benue State capital.
The incident occurred shortly after Obi and his entourage arrived in Makurdi and was heading to Yelwata community in Guma LGA to sympathize with victims of the Fulani herdsmen attack.
The suspected thugs barricaded the Gboko Road by the Air Force Base, attempting to blocked Presidential candidate from gaining access into the state.
They were sighted running after vehicles in the convoy telling Obi and his entourage to go back to wherever they were coming from, saying they were not needed in the State.
When the situation became tense with no security to control the youths, Obi and his entourage made a u-turn to the airport.
The former Anambra State governor had since left the State.
As of the time of filing this report, the Benue State Government and the police had yet to publicly react to the incidence.
