Hon. D. I. Kekemeke has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the elder statesman and national leader of Afenifere, who died at the age of 100.
In a condolence message, Kekemeke described the late Yoruba leader as a respected national figure whose contributions to democracy, justice, education and good governance left a lasting mark on Nigeria.
He said Fasoranti’s commitment to public service and the development of Ondo State, Yorubaland and the country would continue to inspire future generations.
“A great iroko has fallen,” Kekemeke said, describing the centenarian’s death as a significant loss to Ondo State and Nigeria.
He noted that Fasoranti’s principles, wisdom and dedication to the public good had become an important part of the nation’s heritage, adding that his influence would endure beyond his lifetime.
Kekemeke extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the Afenifere organisation, the people of Akure and residents of Ondo State over the loss.
He also prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family and associates the strength to cope with his passing.
Fasoranti was widely recognised for his leadership within Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political organisation, and his longstanding involvement in national affairs.
Kekemeke concluded his tribute by honouring the late elder statesman’s contributions and reaffirming the enduring significance of his legacy.
