The late Music Legend Ms Onyeka Onwenu has been laid to rest in Lagos amidst tears.
The music icon slumped and died shortly after performing at a birthday party in honour of the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, Dr Stella Okoli at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, on July 30, 2024.
The late Onyeka was given a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi after a funeral
at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos.
President at the solemn event were the former presidential candidate, of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and the Governor of Abia state, Alex Otti, family members, friends, associates and others.
Onyeka Onwenu was reputed to be a song writer, singer, performer, broadcaster, politicians and others.
Apart from a successful career in music, Onyeka was appointed Chairperson of the Imo State Council of Arts and Culture.
In 2013, the Goodluck Jonathan administration appointed her the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Women Development Centre.
She was born 31 January 1952.
