The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement for the 2027 general election, marking a major milestone in the party’s preparations for the next electoral cycle.
The governor was formally presented with his Certificate of Return at a ceremony in Ibadan attended by party officials, delegates, supporters and political associates, officially confirming him as the APM’s flagbearer.
Presenting the certificate, APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantali, said Makinde possesses the leadership qualities, experience and vision needed to steer the country toward greater development.
Dantali also called on party members nationwide to unite behind the candidate and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election, expressing optimism about the party’s prospects.
The emergence of Makinde places the Oyo governor among the growing list of politicians positioning themselves for Nigeria’s next presidential contest as parties continue to shape alliances and strategies ahead of the polls.
Political observers say the development could influence future alignments across the opposition landscape as the race for the presidency gradually gathers momentum.
