MEDICAL DIRECTOR, FMC, LOSES TWIN DAUGHTERS, DOCTOR AND PHARMACIST, TO SICKLE CELL IN YOBE

The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, Prof. Hadiza Usman, has lost her twin daughters to sickle cell complications.

The two daughters Dr. Hadiya Usman (Hassana) and Dr. Aidah Usman (Usaina), reportedly died just forty eight hours apart.

It was learnt that the first twin Dr. Hadiya, a medical doctor, died on Friday, October 2, 2026, while her twin sister, Aidah, the Pharmacist passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

It was gathered that Hadiyah died after battling a sickle cell crisis for a week at the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru.

The twin sister who was said to be on admission at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for same sickle cell treatment was discharged but fainted and died while visiting the sister’s grave.

The death of the two sisters described as inseparable has devastated members of the family, colleagues, friends and the wider community who have expressed deep sadness over it.

The mother of the late medical professionals, Professor Hadiza Usman, is a Professor of Gynaecological Oncology and Reproductive Health.

She is also said to be the first female Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist produced by the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
