Nationwide Protest : Peter Urges President Tinubu to Address the Nation

By Attah Ede

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election and former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, on Friday, told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come out and address the nation in order to douse the current tension in the country.

Obi made the call while speaking on the ongoing national protests against hardship across the states of the federation.

Lending his voice concerning the protest and the demands of the protesters from his home town in Onitsha, Anambra State, Obi said the President should address the nation and attend to the legitimate demands of the people.

OBI denied the claim in  a trending video that he was in Abuja on the first day of the protest.

“I am here in Onitsha; I can’t be here and be in Abuja”

Obi said that while the demands of the protesters were legitimate, they must be pursued within the ambit of the law.

In a statement issued in Abuja by Yunusa Tanko, Spokesman for POMR, he appealed to Mr. President to come out and address the nation.

According to him, the President is the one elected by the people, he is holding their mandate, and should not be using aides or appointees to reach the people at such critical moment.

” I want to extends my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the protest, as well as the injured and those who lost their property in the protest”, he said.
