“The outbreak has spread across 23 states and 109 Local Government Areas since January 2026,” the report stated.

To coordinate response efforts, the agency said the National Lassa Fever Multi-Partner, Multi-Sectoral Incident Management System remains activated and is supporting interventions at federal, state and local government levels.
Despite the absence of new healthcare worker infections, the NCDC warned that the increased fatality rate and wider spread of the disease indicate that transmission remains a public health concern, with surveillance and case management activities continuing across affected states.
