The former Deputy Governor of Osun State and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Otunba Iyiola Omisore, has officially joined the race for the 2026 governorship election.
Omisore declared his intentions known during a crucial stakeholders meeting on Tuesday in the Ife Federal Constituency, marking a significant comeback to the state’s political arena.
His declaration is seen by many as a major challenge to the re-election bid of incumbent Gov. Ademola Adeleke, setting the stage for what promises to be a fierce political battle.
Political analysts say Omisore’s entry could alter the balance of power within the state, especially with his influence in the APC and strong grassroots network in Osun East.
